Major League Baseball games played Sunday, August 5, 2007: A rainout in Pittsburgh, where the Pirates were to have hosted the Cincinnati Reds, resulted in a partial slate of 14 games played on Sunday. And those 14 games produced a single ejection.

In Washington, DC, where the Nationals hosted the St. Louis Cardinals, first base umpire Mark Wegner ejected Cardinals manager Tony La Russa for arguing a check-swing in the top of the 5th inning. The Nationals won the game by a score of 6-3. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are available here and here. Additional coverage is available from The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (see here and here); The Washington Post; The Washington Times; and The Associated Press. And you can view related photos here and here.

Credit first base umpire Mark Wegner with one ejection -- giving him five on the season -- and adjust your Umpire Fantasy League standings accordingly.
