Major League Baseball games played Tuesday, August 14, 2007: A complete slate of 15 games played Tuesday produced a single ejection.
As I first noted here last night, in Atlanta, where the Braves hosted the San Francisco Giants, home plate umpire Ted Barrett ejected Braves manager Bobby Cox in the bottom of the 5th inning for arguing balls and strikes from the dugout. The Braves ended up winning the game by a score of 5-4. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are available here and here. MLB.com also reports that "Cox breaks all-time ejections record; Braves skipper tossed after fifth inning for arguing strikeout." Additional coverage is available from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (here and here); The San Francisco Chronicle; and The Associated Press (here and here). A related photo can be viewed at this link.
Credit home plate umpire Ted Barrett with an ejection -- his second of the season -- and adjust your Umpire Fantasy League standings accordingly.
