Major League Baseball games played Wednesday, May 7, 2008: A complete slate of fifteen games played Wednesday produced two ejections.

In Atlanta, where the Braves hosted the San Diego Padres, third base umpire Wally Bell ejected Braves manager Bobby Cox in the top of the 2nd inning for arguing a balk call that caused the Padres to score the team's first run of the game. When Cox recorded his Major League Baseball-leading 137th ejection of his career, the Padres were leading 1-0. The Braves ended up winning the game by the score of 5-2. And in Seattle, where the Mariners hosted the Texas Rangers, home plate umpire Mark Wegner ejected Managers manager John McLaren in the top of the 2nd inning because (according to McLaren) Wegner thought that McLaren had said something that McLaren had not said. The game was scoreless at the time of the ejection, and the Rangers went on to win by the score of 2-0. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are here and here.
