Major League Baseball games played Thursday, May 1, 2008: A partial slate of ten games played Thursday produced a single ejection.

In Boston, where the Red Sox hosted the Toronto Blue Jays, second base umpire Bruce Dreckman ejected Blue Jays manager John Gibbons in the bottom of the 9th inning for arguing a balk call on a pitch that otherwise would have resulted in the final out of the game on a fly ball to left field. The baserunner on first was awarded second on the balk, and the batter ended up getting a single, putting runners on first and third. The next batter struck out, however, preserving a 3-0 victory for the Blue Jays. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are here and here. Credit umpire Bruce Dreckman with an ejection -- his first of the season -- and adjust your Umpire Fantasy League standings accordingly.
