"Umpires to honor Shag Crawford": Major League Baseball yesterday issued a press release that begins, "Major League Umpires are now allowed to wear patches bearing the initials 'S.C.' on the left sleeve of their uniforms to honor the memory of longtime National League Umpire Henry 'Shag' Crawford, who passed away at the age of 90 in his native Pennsylvania on July 11th. The patches may be worn for a period of 30 days."
