Major League Baseball games played Tuesday, May 27, 2008: A complete slate of fifteen games played Tuesday produced two ejections.
In Seattle, where the Mariners hosted the Boston Red Sox, third base umpire Angel Hernandez ejected both Red Sox shortstop Julio Lugo and Red Sox manager Terry Francona in the bottom of the 5th inning for complaining about Hernandez's failure to call the batter's checked swing a strike. The Red Sox were losing 3-0 at the time of the ejection and went on to lose 4-3 in walk-off fashion. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are here and here. Additional coverage is available from The Boston Globe; The Boston Herald; The Seattle Times; The Seattle Post-Intelligencer; and The Associated Press.
Credit umpire Angel Hernandez with two ejections -- giving him three on the season -- and adjust your Umpire Fantasy League standings accordingly.
