Major League Baseball games played Monday, May 5, 2008: A partial slate of nine games played Monday produced one ejection.
In Cincinnati, where the Reds hosted the Chicago Cubs, home plate umpire Tim Welke ejected Cubs batting coach Gerald Perry in the top of the 2nd inning for arguing balls and strikes from the bench. The Cubs were trailing 3-0 at the time of the ejection and went on to lose the game by a score of 5-3. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are here and here. Additional coverage is available from The Chicago Tribune; The Chicago Sun-Times; The Cincinnati Enquirer; and The Associated Press.
Credit umpire Tim Welke with an ejection -- his first of the season -- and adjust your Umpire Fantasy League standings accordingly.
