Major League Baseball games played Thursday, July 19, 2007: A partial slate of twelve games played yesterday produced a single ejection.
As noted in the post immediately below, home plate umpire Rob Drake -- a 2007 minor league call-up umpire -- ejected Washington Nationals first baseman Dmitri Young for arguing a called third strike in the bottom of the 3rd inning. It took 10 innings, but the Nationals ended up defeating the visiting Colorado Rockies by a score of 5-4. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are available here and here. Other coverage is available from The Washington Post; The Washington Times; The Denver Post; The Rocky Mountain News; and The Associated Press.
Credit home plate umpire Rob Drake with one ejection -- his first of the 2007 season -- and adjust your Umpire Fantasy League standings accordingly.
