Major League Baseball games played Monday, April 14, 2008: A partial slate of nine games played Monday produced one ejection.
In Arlington, where the Texas Rangers hosted the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, home plate umpire Joe West ejected Rangers manager Mike Scioscia at the conclusion of the top of the 8th inning after West called the pitch delivered with two out and a 3-2 count strike three instead of ball four. The Angels were leading 7-3 at the time of Scioscia's ejection and ended up winning by the final score of 7-4. You can view the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com can be accessed here and here. Additional coverage is available from The Orange County Register; The Los Angeles Times; The Dallas Morning News; The Fort Worth Star-Telegram; and The Associated Press.
Credit umpire Joe West -- one of last season's ejection leaders -- with his first ejection of the season, and adjust your Umpire Fantasy League standings accordingly.
