As a result, umpire fantasy league standings remain unchanged.
In Seattle, where the Mariners hosted the Detroit Tigers, first base umpire Dan Iassogna ejected Tigers manager Jim Leyland in the top of the 6th inning for arguing a close out call at first base for the first out of that half-inning. The Tigers were trailing 4-0 at the time of the ejection, and ended up losing 5-0. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are here and here. And in Cincinnati, where the Reds hosted the Atlanta Braves, home plate umpire Adrian Johnson (a 2008 minor league call-up umpire) ejected Braves manager, for his Major League Baseball-leading 138th ejection of his career, Bobby Cox in the bottom of the 9th inning for arguing a close play at home plate that caused the game to be tied 7-7. The Reds ended up winning 8-7 in 10 innings. You can access the box score at this link, while wraps from MLB.com are here and here. You can view a related photo at this link. Additional coverage is available from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; The Cincinnati Enquirer; and The Associated Press.
Credit umpires Dan Iassogna and Adrian Johnson with one ejection each -- for both umpires, his second of the season -- and adjust your Umpire Fantasy League standings accordingly.
